AN OPEN LETTER
It is finally clear to me that I‘ve been missing out on something these past few years. I’ve had this nagging feeling that I needed to do something but I just can’t seem to place my finger on it. Like most passionate comic book artists, I’ve always wanted to help the local komiks industry. But how?
It has been a long while since my last class as instructor at Whilce Portacio’s comic creation course at LEARN, Megamall. It never dawned on me that I should continue teaching. But a lot of people have been asking me how I can help them to get into the business. The most common answer to that would be to never stop practicing. But without a structured plan to drive them, they will be relying on their own pace, which may not be rigorous enough for them to improve their work to the level they’ll need to actually make it. So I realized that a program is needed to cultivate the talents of budding artists.
So this summer, I will be holding sessions on comic book art for a limited number of participants. This will be conducted twice a week, with a total of 12 sessions. It all starts March 25. For interested parties, please call 6556780 from Monday to Wednesday and look for Glenda for more information. You may also email us at gleam_73@yahoo.com.
This is just the beginning of more exciting projects for this year. I’ll post in more about them soon.
